Neil Frederick Ebeling, age 68, of Buffalo passed away Thursday December 15, 2016 at Allina Hospital in Buffalo, MN. The first son of Einar and Alice Ebeling, Neil was born on July 26, 1948 in Monticello, MN. Neil attended Buffalo High School where he was active in football and wrestling before graduating in 1966. He served in the Marine Corp and was deployed to Vietnam on April 16, 1968. He returned home safely February 13, 1970. Neil married Vicki Schleif on September 22, 1973. They had their first son Eric on February 10, 1983. Their second son Ryan followed on February 3, 1986. He became a grandfather to Adelyn in 2012 and again to Evyana in 2015.
Neil was the proud owner of his own plumbing business that serviced the Buffalo and surrounding areas for 30+ years. Neil enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, Astronomy and photography. More often than not Neil preferred to shoot game with his camera as opposed to his gun. He took many hunting trips out west with his in-laws and friends, and fishing trips to Canada with his two sons. He often said what made him most happy was listening to his sons talk and laugh with each other.
Neil was always eager to tell a good joke or story. He enjoyed spending his time volunteering teaching gun safety classes at the Waverly Gun Club and Buffalo High School. Neil was generous with his time and resources and was always putting the needs of others above his own. He will be greatly missed.
Neil is survived by his Wife Vicki (Schleif) Ebeling; Sons Eric (Jillian) Ebeling & Ryan (Kelly) Ebeling; Granddaughter’s Adelyn & Evyana Ebeling; Brother Brad (Jeannie) Ebeling; Sister-in-law Jill Ebeling; Father-in-law Jim Schleif; Sisters-in-law Lauri (Tom) Hayes; Jill (Curt) VanLith, and Julie Bruhn; Brother -in-law Steve (Carol) Schleif; as well as many Nieces, Nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his Parents Einar & Alice (Abel); Brother Doug Ebeling; Mother-in-law Patty (Henson) Schleif; Brothers-in-law Scott Schleif & Jeff Bruhn.
Our prayers go out to the Ebeling family during this time of loss. Neil was a great person and had a good sense of humor.
We were so very sorry to hear about Neil’s passing. He was a very kind, loving man. He will surely be missed. May God bless you and bring you peace during this holiday season as you share memories of him. Much love to you all.

Neil was just an amazing man. I so enjoyed my time working for him. I learned a lot about plumbing from him, but I learned even more about life and how to treat others with dignity and respect.
