Nancy J. Wolesky, age 68 of Big Lake, passed away peacefully Tuesday August 7,2018 after an extended battle with cancer. She was born on April 7, 1950 in Detroit Lakes the daughter of Arnold and Virginia (Stewart) Gniffke.

As an infant her family moved to Owatonna where she was reared. Nancy was a 1968 graduate of Owatonna High School. She attended college at Augustana in Sioux Falls and the University of Minnesota, Morris. On June 6, 1970, Nancy Gniffke and Daniel Wolesky were united in marriage in Owatonna. Nancy worked in several areas and helped manage Midwest Glass Reps of Albertville with her husband for nearly two decades.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Virginia Gniffke.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Dan Wolesky; children, Jennifer (Scott) Shipstad, Mark Wolesky; grandchildren, Annika, Jakob and Lena Shipstad; brother Bill (Lucy) Gniffke; and other family and friends from Maine to California.

Nancy was a lifelong committed and serious knitter, there was no style or type that she wasn’t able to learn and do. Her collection of yarn is extensive. Nancy was an avid golfer and an accomplished skier who enjoyed her many trips to the Colorado Rockies. She enjoyed traveling to her relatives on the east coast and friends on the west although in recent years she was content to spend time at her cabin on the Big Fork River north of Effie. There, feeding her hummingbirds, watching the wildlife and sharing it all with her grandchildren life couldn’t have been better.
