Gladys Tews, age 89, of Silver Lake, formerly of Buffalo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Burns Manor in Hutchinson. Gladys was born on March 28, 1918 in the Hutchinson/Silver Lake area to Louis and Mary (Smahel) Dvorak. She was one of seven children. Gladys married Bernard Robert Tews in 1938 and were blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Gladys loved to garden, always making bouquets from her lovely garden for everyone to enjoy. Her husband worked in a lumber yard most of his life. They both loved to fish, garden, garage sale and dance. They lived most of their life in the Hutch/Silver Lake area and a few years in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gladys and her husband were both members of Faith Presbyterian Church of Silver Lake most of their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard in 1993; sons, ElRoy in 1996 and Larry in 2006; daughter-in-law, Leona Tews in 2007; grandson, Stephen Buboltz in 1980; 2 brothers; 1 sister. Gladys is survived by 2 daughters, Shirley (Lanny) Taylor and Judith (Virgil) Buboltz; 2 sisters, Rose Splichal and Dorothy (Henry) Anderson; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday at Faith Presbyterian Church of Silver Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow at Bohemian National Cemetery. In lieu of sending Thank You™s, the family will make a donation. May God bless the cherished memories of her life to all who knew and loved her.
