Edna N. Schuster, age 77, of Buffalo passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Lake Ridge Care Center.
She and her twin brother, Edwin, were born on June 22, 1934 in Madison, Wisconsin, the children of Otto and Katherine (Luder) Schuster.
Several months after their birth, family circumstances caused Edna and her twin brother to be placed in the foster home of Louis and Abbie Ostby where they lived for nine years. They spent the remaining years of their childhood in the foster care system.
As an adult, Edna left Wisconsin and moved to Minnesota spending her working years in the medical field as an x-ray technician and as a licensed practical nurse. Her gift of kindness was clearly shown to those she cared for when as a home-care attendant she served several individuals with medical needs in the Buffalo area.
Edna loved animals, especially her pet kitty, Mitsy. She enjoyed flowers and often sent a bright bouquet to someone remembering them on a special day. She liked to listen to music and at times attended events in Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis or after moving to Buffalo enjoyed the Buffalo Community Orchestra concerts, as well.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Fred and Sherman, three sisters Betty, Fay, and Phyllis, her kind foster-care parents, the Ostbys, a dear nurse friend and mentor Frances Aldrich, friend Mary Jane who Edna cared for, and several nieces and nephews. Edna is survived by sisters, Kathleen, Margie and Barbara and twin brother Edwin, sisters-in-law Eleanor and Gerry, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Those who will miss her presence are her family members, her dear friend and former co-worker, Rose Scott, many other friends from throughout her walk in life, and residents whose lives she touched in her days living in Lake Ridge Care Center, especially her roommate, Eunice. We are all thankful to have known Edna. God bless her memory to our hearts.
A memorial Service will be held on Thursday afternoon, August 4, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the Friendship Center at Lake Ridge Care Center. Memorials may be given to Guardian Angels – Elim Hospice.
