Johnson, Dorothy J. age 96, of Buffalo, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1st 2009 at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo. She was born to John and Ethel (Owen) Hersch on July 13, 1913 in Black Hawk County Iowa. Dorothy was one of six children born of which three remain living. She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1932 and on March 30, 1935, married J. Albert Johnson. God blessed their marriage with three children. Dorothy worked at Burkland Department Store for twenty years as a Clerk. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its Priscilla Circle and Golden Age Volunteer. Dorothy also volunteered at the Buffalo Senior Center and at Zion’s Harvest of Hands. She was a former Sunday School Teacher and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel (Owen) Hersch; husband, J. Albert Johnson; granddaughter, Kirstin Stoltz; sisters, Gladys Hansen and Frances Altenburg. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Robert (Lois) Johnson of Buffalo, MN and Dale Johnson of Mendota Heights, MN; daughter, Carol (Earl) Secor of Fairbanks, AK; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Russell (Janet) Hersch of Osseo, MN; sisters, Olive (Hugh) Mitchell of Big Lake, MN and Opal Stokes of Monticello, MN; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. A Time of Gathering will be one hour prior to the service. Private inurnment will be at Swedish-Mission Covenant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

Dear Cousins Robert, Carol, and Dale–we are mourning with you this day at the loss of your mom, my Aunt Dorothy. So many good memories will help sustain you during this sad time.
