Marvel Trunnell, 86, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, died Saturday morning, August 20, 2011 in Monticello, Minnesota.
She was born July 13, 1925 in Monticello, Minnesota to John Miller and Blanche Garvey Miller. She lived her entire life in Monticello where she attended school and then married Lee Trunnell on March 9, 1946. Together, Marvel and Lee raised a family and built a riverfront home and successful business in Monticello. She was active in the United Methodist Church where she was a member for 72 years. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Marvel regularly volunteered in her community, including at the hospital and senior center in Monticello. She always enjoyed playing cards with friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee, brother Wallis Miller and grandson Kenneth Hitter.
Survivors include her children: Pat and Sharon Trunnell, Mike and Mary Ella Trunnell, Lee Renee Hitter and Denise and Mark Wallen, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, siblings: Jay and Vivian Miller, Jim and Lois Miller, Phyllis Johnson and John Sandberg, Carol and Doug Pitt and sister-in-law Dee Miller and Lyle Trunnell. Marvel is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service for Marvel Trunnell will be held at Community United Methodist Church of Monticello at 2 PM on Thursday, August 25, 2011. A luncheon will be served at 3 PM followed by fellowship from 4-6 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community United Methodist Church in Monticello, Minnesota.
The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo assisted the family with arrangements.
