Doris L. Persian, age 94, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Park View Care Center in Buffalo, Minnesota.

Doris was born in St. Paul, MN on March 20, 1917, the second of four children, to Sigurd and Catherine (Nagel) Nord. She was raised in Howard Lake, MN where she could often be found working in the family café, The Puritan. Gifted with a beautiful voice, she and her sisters sang as a trio, live on WDGY radio while in high school. She married Arvid Persian on January 1, 1938 and was blessed with four children. Doris enjoyed spending time “up north” at the cabin, reading, and following the Twins. She was an excellent cook and well known for baking delicious breads and goodies. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

She is survived by her children: Gene (Rosie) Persian of Buffalo, Yvonne (Russ) Barto of Chaska and James Persian of Buffalo; daughter-in-law, Jenean Persian of Gillette, Wyoming; grandchildren: Douglas Persian of Buffalo, Lisa (Gary) Wolf of Roseville, Tiffany (Howard Reinhard) Nelson of Watertown, Kristi (Dan) Ross of Watertown, Nicole (Darrell) Meyer of New Prague, Chip (Jill) Barto of Victoria, Randy (Alisa) Barto of Chaska, Clayton Persian, Cameron Persian & Kelsey Persian all of Gillette, Wyoming, Alex Persian & Ellie Persian both of Buffalo. Also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Arvid Persian; parents, Sigurd and Catherine (Nagel) Nord; son, Jon Persian; 2 sisters and 1 brother.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 504 County Road 134, Buffalo, Minnesota.

Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
