Vernon George ˜Snooks™ Jones was born to Georgie ˜Elnora™ (Wood) and Vernon E. Jones on July 6, 1931. He died peacefully on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo. In 1935, he moved to Palmer, Alaska with his parents and sister, Peggy. He returned to Minnesota in 1945 with his two sisters, Judy and Phyllis. Vernon graduated from Onamia High School in 1949 and enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after. He served as an Aviation Specialist in the Theater of Operations in Korea. After returning from service, he married Delores. They were blessed with three children and later divorced. Vernon worked as an Equipment Installer for Western Electric for 31 years before retiring in 1983 at the age of 52. While working in Korea, he met his second wife, Chong and they were blessed with two more children. Coming out of retirement, he began working for the Montrose Elementary School for 13 more years as a Para, and Crossing Guard. Vernon loved gardening, taking care of his yard and watching deer in the field. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Judy Orvis. He is survived by his children: Bruce (Shirley) Jones, Kris Haley, Cheryl (Mike) Krier, Lynda and Kathy Jones; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
sisters: Peggy (Richard) Benz of Rochester, Phyllis (Jim) Flasch of Brooklyn Park; 2 nephews; 5 nieces and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Friday at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Thursday at The Peterson Chapel Buffalo Funeral Home with prayer service at 7:00 PM. Also, one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be at Zion Cemetery with military rites. Serving the family¦

Kathy-I know how hard it is to lose a father, especially to lung cancer. My thoughts and prayers are with you old roomie!!

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your Dad. I have many great memories as I am sure you do as well. He will be deeply missed. And our condolences to you all from Red’s Cafe.
