Visitation Information

Donald Leroy Tazelaar age 73 of Buffalo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with lung disease. Don was born to Mark and Bertha (Sankey) Tazelaar on March 7, 1936 in Roseland, MN. He served in the United States Army from 1956-1958 being stationed in Alaska where he dreamed of returning someday. On December 8, 1972, Don married Jean Christenson at Calvary Baptist Church in Paynesville, MN. God blessed their marriage with three children. Don worked as a welder for 38 years at Super Radiator Coils in St. Louis Park, MN and later in Chaska, MN, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and 4-wheeling with his grandchildren. Don was a beloved “Papa” to his grandchildren and adored by each one. His family was always his top priority and he will be greatly missed. Don is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Jean; sons, Jeff (Marisa) Tazelaar and Darren Tazelaar both of Buffalo; daughter, Carrie (Barry) Rhineberger of Montrose; grandchildren, Alexis, Grace, Braedon, Lindsey and Ashlyn; step-son, Jeff (Heather) Perin of Robinson, TX and family; Children, Bryan (Della) Tazelaar, Tami Waller, Shelly (Keith) Holzheimer all of Montevideo, MN, Kim (Joel) Dahlheimer of Alexandria, MN and their families; brothers, Waldron (Aretta) Tazelaar of Roseville, MN, Mark C. (Marletta) Tazelaar of Buffalo, MN; sisters, Doris (Donald) Roelofs of Renville, MN, Ruth Ann (Dennis) Bredeson of Pennock, MN, Betty (Charles) Schwitters of Clara City, MN; brother-in-law, Lowell Marcus of Prinsburg, MN; mother-in-law, Helen Christenson of Buffalo, MN; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Tom) Ernst of Buffalo, Becky (Mike) Aanerud of Maple Lake, MN; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet Marcus; father-in-law, Gordon Christenson; son-in-law, Allan Waller; 2 infant nephews, Grady and David Aanerud. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Tri-County Alliance Church in Clearwater. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Wednesday with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at The Peterson Chapel Buffalo Funeral Home. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment with military rites will be at Swedish Mission Covenant Cemetery in Buffalo. Pastor Anthony Stanley will officiate the service. The pallbearers are,Troy Tazelaar, Mitch Tazelaar, Brent Tazelaar, Mike Aanerud, Tom Ernst and Barry Rhineberger. The honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren. Arrangements for Donald Tazelaar were entrusted to The Peterson Chapel Buffalo Funeral Home.
