Monica Tuckenhagen, age 80, of Aitkin, Minnesota, formerly of Waverly, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011.

She was born January 9, 1931 in St. Cloud, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Theresa (Seep) Schwitalla.

On October 26, 1950 Monica Schwitalla and George Tuckenhagen were united in holy marriage at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Delano. To this union were born four sons and one daughter.
Monica was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly for many years.

She enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball, and loved to discuss politics.

Monica is survived by her children: Thomas (Lynda) Tuckenhagen of Anoka, Terry (Becky) Tuckenhagen of Delano, Timothy (Annie) Tuckenhagen of Barnum, Tammy (Harry) Wirgau of Mora and Troy Tuckenhagen of Zimmerman; grandchildren: Todd, Tonya, Tracy, Dessie, Tillie, Tony and Gina; great-grandchildren: Jason, Justin, Mason, Owen, Colin, Ashton, Landon, Samuel, Samantha and Dominique; sisters: Doreen Bock and Loraine Vogelpohl; brother: Gerald Schwitalla; long-time friend of over 70 years: Gloria Beckstrand; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, George Tuckenhagen; her parents, William and Theresa (Seep) Schwitalla; sister, Irma and brother, Arnold.

A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Thursday, March 10, 2011 at The Peterson Chapel, 119 Central Avenue, Buffalo, Minnesota.

Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00am until the time of service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Waverly, Minnesota.
