Mildred “Minty” H. Koivisto, age 90 of Maple Grove and formerly Esko, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Interlude Restorative Suites in Plymouth.
She was born on September 20, 1928 in Esko, MN the daughter of Robert and Esther (Forstie) Korby.
On November 5, 1949, Mildred and Roy Koivisto were joined in holy marriage near Esko. God blessed their marriage with six children.
Mildred was employed many years as a registered nurse at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. She also was a homemaker and mother to Roy and her six children.
She was a faithful member of The Minneapolis Laestadian Lutheran Congregation in Plymouth.
Mildred “Minty” is survived by her children Cindy (Gene) Tulkki of Plymouth, Karen Merdan of Coon Rapids, Diana (Greg) Fuller of Corcoran and Mike (Kathy) Koivisto of Greenfield; twenty-three grandchildren; 69 great grandchildren and also many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Roy in 2005; son Brad Koivisto in 1987; daughter Claudia Lowell in 1999; great grandchildren Brittney, Vera and Cameron; her parents Robert and Esther Korby and brother Ronald Korby.
Funeral Services for Mildred “Minty” will be held Tuesday, May 21, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service all at The Minneapolis Laestadian Lutheran Congregation, 13030 47th Avenue N., Plymouth. Luncheon to follow at church.
Officiating will be Keith Waaraniemi.
Casket bearers will be Mildred’s grandsons, Jeremy Fuller, Jacob Fuller, Joshua Fuller, Nathan Fuller, Tyler Koivisto, Phillip Tulkki, Jeff Merdan, Kenneth Merdan, Matthew Merdan and Pat Goad.
Interment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal.
