Mianna Frieda Varner, age 91 of Buffalo, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, November 27, 2017. She was born February 15, 1926 in Delano, the daughter of John Henry and Frieda Ida (Klemm) Hayes.
Mianna worked at Buffalo Creamery/Centra Sota Co-Op for 20 plus years. She was involved with 4-H as a child and as an adult leader, and she was involved with activities at Buffalo United Methodist Church. Mianna enjoyed needlework, quilting, traveling, gardening, baking, playing bingo, watching the Minnesota Twins, time at the cabin, wintering in Texas, and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Varner; parents, John and Frieda Hayes; infant sibling; sister, Harriet Crawford (Durand); brothers, Leland Hayes (Martha), Roland Hayes; and niece, Sharon Matter.
Mianna is survived by her daughters, Audrey Jones (Jay), Rita Varner-Otness (Duane “Ottie”), Jody Lee (Michael); grandchildren, Eric Jones (Shannon), Scott Jones (Jennifer), Sheila Smude (Andrew), Gretchen Otness, Ryan Lee (Sarah), Erin Maciej (John); 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gladys Hayes; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Casket bearers will be Mianna’s sons-in-law: Jay Jones, Duane Otness, Mike Lee, and Mianna’s grandsons: Eric Jones, Scott Jones, Ryan Lee.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Buffalo United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior, at Buffalo United Methodist Church in Buffalo with Pastor Bill Reinhart officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mianna’s name are preferred to the Park Terrace Assisted Living–Memory Care or Buffalo Community Center.
