Verna Lorraine(Vergin) Lemmage, Parkview Care Center, formally of Rockford, went to her heavenly Father on Friday, February 3 at the age of 90. She was born to Laura A.(Rux) Vergin and Gustav Carl Vergin in Rockford Township on the family farm on January 10, 1927. Being the youngest of nine children, she|
earned the nickname of "Babe". She was baptized at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford on February 27, 1927. Verna was confirmed on March 17, 1940. She attended the small 8 grade country school on Hwy. 55 through the 6th grade and then finished her other 6 years in Rockford, graduating in 1944.
Verna married Kenneth D. Lemmage, a high school sweetheart on May 7, 1947 by Rev. Samuel Baer at Cross Lutheran. They were blessed with 3 sons. They resided in Rockford Township until 1950 when Ken was recalled into the Army Air Force. They then lived in San Antonio, Texas. Returning to Minnesota, she spent the rest of her life in Rockford. Her interests were in many different areas including working in the school library, Rockford city clerk/treasurer, and doing housework.
Verna was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, enjoying her family immensely. She was preceded in death by her parents: loving husband Ken and son, Kenny B. Lemmage. sisters Viola Lange, Eleanore Vergin, Alice Sieloff, Edna Loeffler, and Erna Lieder: brothers Adolph, Edwin and Ervin: Survivors include her children, Tom (Jan) Lemmage and Barry (Cindy) Lemmage; daughter-in-law Deborah Lemmage; grandchildren, Cami (Chad) Stivers, Matt Lemmage and Zack Lemmage, Jennifer (Chris) Nowacki, Michael (Cara) Lemmage, Adrienne (James USN) Bohline, Corinne (Rev. Joshua) Lowe, Daniel (Sarah) Lemmage and Joanna (Andy) Dodds: great-grandchi ldren, Samantha Stivers, Katherine Lemmage, Lydia and Henry Lowe and Eliana and Josiah Bohline; and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and
Verna's grandchildren, Cami, Matt, Zack, Jen, Addie, Mike, Cori, DJ, and Jo will serve as her honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 9 from 4-8 PM with prayer service at 7:30 at Cross Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10 at 4:00 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service at Cross Lutheran Church in Rockford by Pastor Barlow. A private inurnment will be at Elmwood Cemetery
in Rockford. The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo served the family.
