Melvin Quentin Cressman, age 95 of Buffalo and formerly Plymouth & Isle, MN, died on October 10, 2016 surrounded by his family at Parkview Care Center in Buffalo.

On October 1, 1921, Melvin was born the son of Wilhelmina (Reichwalt) and Walter Lily Cressman in Upsala, MN. After graduating from high school in St. Charles, SD, Melvin attended Mitchell School of Business in Mitchell, SD. He then served his country in the U.S. Army’s Engineering Corps. In 1945, Melvin married Ruby Stout and in the coming years, their union was blessed with the birth of four daughters. Melvin helped with the family farm and then began farming for himself. In the late 1950’s he bought White Forest Resort in Nevis and operated it until the mid 70’s. During that time, he did maintenance for Gamble’s warehouse in Minneapolis and later for Food Producers. After his retirement, Melvin enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially wintering with her in the southern states and summering in their rural Isle home on Malone Island along the shores of Mille Lacs Lake. I was so sad to hear that Melvin passed away! What a wonderful and kind man! He was just over at Park Terrace visiting us a couple of weeks ago. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers! God Bless you all!

I love your pops. He was a very kind and caring man. He told me many stories, and he loved it when I would bring in my dogs to see him. He always talked about him and I going fishing. I knew he couldn’t but he kept the dream alive. I hope that I helped console him until he can see his wife again.
