June 28, 1950 – December 17, 2019

Max Johnson 69, of St. Michael passed away surrounded by his family on December 17th, 2019, after his courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 28,1950 in Rockford, IL, the son of William V. Johnson and Marion E. (Chabucos) Johnson.
Max worked as a Boilermaker throughout the country and overseas for over 25 years. He met the love of his life, Peggy Kessler in 1975 when they both worked at the NSP Sherco Power Plant in Becker, MN. Max then went on to create a legacy for his children and grandchildren by starting his own company, Twin Cities Boiler Repair, which will soon celebrate its 25 year anniversary. – Max achieved his ultimate objective, which was to continue to provide for his family, even when he was gone.
When Max wasn’t officially “on the clock”, you could find him spending his weekends at the Shop in Zimmerman; he wanted to make sure someone was always there just in case someone stopped by. There was no project Max and crew couldn’t tackle.
Max loved spending time at his cabin on Lake Mille Lacs. The original cabin was struck by lightening and burned down in 2000. Since receiving his second cancer diagnosis, Max’s goal was to rebuild the cabin so his family would have a place to make many more treasured memories.
Max’s kids and grandkids were his pride and joy.

Max is preceded in death by his parents, William and Marion Johnson and his Godson, Justin Kolles

The Johnson family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for your kindness and prayers. In lieu of sending acknowledgement cards, a special contribution will be in made in Max’s name to the Mayo Clinic.

We so appreciated Max and you, Peggy, as neighbors, chatting in the cul-de-sac, lending a hand when needed, and sharing freshly-picked sweet corn!. We were especially grateful that Michael and his family could live in 816 – so close to you.
It was obvious that Max adored all of you. Watching the kids follow him around and “help with chores” was a joy. Max with a grandchild in front of him on the riding lawn mower is a classic image of summer…
Our prayers are with you during this time of remembering and change.
