Mary Louise Kersch, age 75, of Albertville passed away on Friday, April 1st, 2016 at Guardian Angels-Engel Haus. She was born on September 25, 1940 in Monticello the daughter of William & Johanna (Stallman) Holker. Mary graduated from Monticello High School in 1958. She later attended St. Cloud State University and got her teaching degree in 1962. She taught Elementary School for many years in Minnesota, Kansas and North Carolina. On April 20, 1968 Mary L. Holker and Michael E. Kersch were joined in holy marriage at Fort Riley, Kansas. God blessed their marriage with two children. Following the birth of her children, she stayed home to raise and care for them, and as they got older she went back to teaching part time.
With her husband being in the military, they travelled much of the world, visiting multiple European countries and across the United States, including spending 15 winters in Florida as snowbirds. Mary loved to travel! Her Christian faith was very important to her, and she was heavily involved in: Adoration, Bible studies, church choir, Women’s AGLOW, prayer group leader, prayer chain, funeral volunteer, and teaching CCD classes and summer Bible school. Mary was a Charismatic and Catholic strong Christian believer. Mary was also a lifelong caregiver always giving of herself to those she loved. She full time watched 3 of her grandchildren for several years when they were young, and cared greatly for both of her parents in their later years.
Survived by her loving husband: Michael E. Kersch; children: Mike (Roni) Kersch of St. Michael and Deb (Rick Wooton) Larson-Wooton of Albertville; grandchildren: Will Kersch, Tate Kersch, Caleb Larson, Isaiah Larson and Madison Sampson; brothers: Bill (Becky) Holker of Clear Lake, Dan (Kathy) Holker and Dennis Holker; and a brother-in-law: Jim Schwartz all of Monticello; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents and by her sisters Johann Holker and Vera Schwartz.
A Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 A.M. Friday St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.
Visitation at the funeral home Thursday 5-7 P.M. Further visitation one hour prior to Mass on Friday morning at the church.
Casket Bearers will be Will Kersch, Tate Kersch and Caleb Larson-Grandsons, Donny Schwartz and Kenny Schwartz-nephews and son-in-law Rick Wooton.
Love you mom! So many of your friends have talked so much about you with Roni and I today. They all love to talk, no wonder you were all such good friends!
