Mary (Griffin) Bechtold, age 74 of Brooklyn Park, passed away on December 21, 2022.

She was born on January 30, 1948 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to H. Mark and Mae (Martin) Griffin. When she was seven years old, her family relocated to Montreal, Canada, where she lived until she was eighteen.

After graduating from Lindsey Place High School in Montreal, she moved back to Minneapolis to further her education. She attended St. Barnabas School of Nursing, where she received her Registered Nursing degree. While she was attending school she met her future husband, Sergeant Don Bechtold. At the time, he was serving in the United States Army and would soon be assigned to combat infantry duties in Vietnam. After returning from his deployment, they were joined in marriage on August 22, 1970 at Calvary Baptist Church in Minneapolis.

Mary worked for Unity Hospital until she stepped back to fulfill her most cherished role: becoming a mother. Her love for her family was unconditional.  She was devoted to caring for them and always made sure she was present in her children and grandchildren’s lives. Her greatest joy was watching her daughters and grandkids perform in concerts, musicals, church, and playing sports. Her kind heart and listening ear allowed many people to come to her for words of encouragement and loving support.  She was a great friend to many.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Mae Griffin; brother, Terry; in-laws, Bernard and Bernice Bechtold; and brother-in-law, Steve Saxton.
