Mary Catherine Wherry, age 61 of Buffalo, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 9, 2016. She was born December 12, 1954 in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Roger and Mary (Michels) Ginder.

Mary was a librarian at the Great River Regional Library in Buffalo for 21 years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, working out at the gym, and time spent with her family and friends.

On July 19, 1975, Mary Catherine Ginder and Duane Joseph Wherry were joined in marriage in Honolulu, Hawaii. The two were blessed with three children, David, Lindsey and Shanna.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ginder and brother-in-law, Danny Kirsch.

She is survived by her husband, Duane “Joe” Wherry; children, David (Brenda) Wherry, Lindsey Wherry, Shanna (Eric) Serven; grandchildren, Ashley, Paydence, Sawyer, Briley; father, Roger Ginder; siblings, Michael (Darlene) Ginder, Ann Kirsch, Patrick (Nancy) Ginder, James (Manuela) Ginder, Susan (Gary) Kellaway; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on behalf of Mary’s granddaughter, Briley.
