Marvin L. “Buddy” Kilian, age 78, of St. Michael passed away on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Veteran’s Home in South Minneapolis after a long illness.
Born in St. Michael on January 31, 1934, Buddy was the eldest son of Leon and Stella Cardinal Kilian. He attended St. John’s Preparatory School in Collegeville and DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis before enlisting in the United States Army and honorably serving his country in Germany. After his discharge in 1955, he met Anna M. Fedor and on August 29, 1956, they were joined in holy matrimony at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Brighton. In the years that followed, God blessed their marriage with four children.
Buddy was a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 292, and for several years, worked for Industrial Electric in Minneapolis before leaving to start his own business. He became an electrical contractor, owning and operating M.L. Bud Kilian Electric for over 30 years before retiring in 2006.
Buddy enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, snowmobiling, downhill skiing, and playing with his grandchildren. He was also a history buff and enjoyed classical music.
He was a faithful member of The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. Buddy was a former St. Michael Lions member and former St. Michael American Legion member.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife: Anne; children: Brian (Leilani) Kilian of Roberts, Wisconsin, Brad (Carla) Kilian of Minnetonka, Angie (Tim) Byland and Valerie Kilian all of Maple Grove; grandchildren: Riley & Anna, Catarina & Brendan, and Hailey; brothers and sisters: Maurice “Ditto” (Coleen) Kilian, Paul “Archie” (Audrey) Kilian, Shirley (Roger) Loftman, Robert “Bob” “Daisy” (Charlotte) Kilian, Jacob “Jack” (Terry) Kilian, James “Jim” (Kristy) Kilian and Cynthia “Cindy” Kilian; many other relatives and friends.
Preceeded in death by his parents: Leon and Stella Kilian.
A Mass of Christian Burial for will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. Father Peter Richards will be the Celebrant. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 1 at the church from 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass. Interment will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Casket Bearers will be: Brian Kilian, Brad Kilian,
Maurice “Ditto” Kilian, Paul “Archie” Kilian,
Jacob “Jack” Kilian and James “Jim” Kilian.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be
Robert “Bob” “Daisy” Kilian, Roger Loftman, Tim Byland and Riley Byland.
