Martha Elizabeth O’Hern, age 81, of Buffalo, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009 in Buffalo, MN.

She was born on February 15, 1928 in Sommersville, Massachusetts the daughter of Arthur & Martha (Boggs) Birch.
After high school she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the Navy Department, eventually she moved back to Rochester, NH. and was employed as the only overnight telephone operator in Rochester. She married Rodney O’Hern June of 1951 and they settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was formerly employed (35yrs) as a Telephone Operator at Northwestern Bell. They enjoyed traveling back to New Hampshire each year and we have many great memories of those vacations. She was a big Minnesota Twins fan. She spent many hours making heirloom tablecloths and was known to rip out a day’s work to ensure that each one was mistake free. Mom gave us great childhood memories. The 3 day train rides out East to see the family. On birthdays you were given a dinner in your honor and the cake of your choice. Christmas’ were awesome, you never saw a present until you came down Christmas morning and the tree was loaded with them, she always made it a surprise. She loved to decorate the outside of the house for every holiday. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
