Mark was born on February 26, 1942 in Roseland, Minnesota, son of Mark and Bertha (Sankey) Tazelaar. He grew up in the Raymond, MN area and joined the United States Army in 1962. He was united in marriage to Marletta Dragt in 1963 and recently celebrated 52 years of that union.
Mark was a member of Buffalo Covenant Church in Buffalo, MN since the early 1970’s. He was the Facilities Manager at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN from 1985 until his retirement in 1999. Previous to that, he was employed at Golden Valley Health Center starting in 1964.
Mark loved the outdoors, planting trees and gardening. He also loved to feed and watch the many birds that populated the area around their residence. Mark enjoyed woodworking in his workshop out back where he made many beautiful pieces from different types of hardwood. He would spend many hours enjoying this craft in the winter months.
Mark went home to our Lord Jesus on September 28 after a 9 year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Marletta, four sons: Mitchel of Champlin MN, Scott (Andrea) of Crystal MN, Troy of Buffalo MN and Brent (Liz) of Oak Grove MN, four Grandchildren: Nicholas, Shawn, Isaiah and Isabelle Tazelaar. Also surviving are his sisters Doris Roelofs of Prinsburg MN, Ruth Bredeson of Pennock MN, and Betty Schwitters of Clara City MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Janet Marcus, and two brothers: Donald and Waldron Tazelaar.

To me Mike will always be remembered as a man who was full of joy! He smiled all the time, laughed often, and enjoyed life. What a blessing he was to be around! I love you all and am sorry to miss the funeral Friday. Love from all of us here; Kara, Jon, Moses, and Griffin
