Marilla “Millie” Doris (Marquette) Frykholm, age 83 of Buffalo, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at her residence with many family members by her side.

Millie was born March 6, 1935, in Chatham Township to Lester and Agnes (Stoppelman) Marquette at the farm, home of her grandparents’ where she and her parents lived most all her life.

She was baptized a year later by Rev. Roberts, then later did her confirmation instruction at St. John Lutheran by Rev. E.R. Berwald.
When she was in fifth grade her grandparents sold their farm and they all moved into Buffalo, MN. They lived together in town until April 23, 1952, when Marilla married Harlen Frykholm. They were only married about five months when he was drafted into the Army. When he returned home after the war in Korea, they bought an older home in Buffalo, and started a family. Then in 1961, with their three oldest children, they bought a 40-acre farm in Marysville Township for which they added an additional three children where they shared 60 wonderful and happy years together before Harlen passed.

At the age of 14, Marilla started her first job at H.E. Keplinger. From there she worked at various jobs: was a waitress at the Sportsman Cafe’ in Soo-Town, Buffalo Veneer, Universal Circuits in Maple Grove, waitress at Millcreek with Bill and Rose Dunning (owners) and continued to worked there when Roger and Betty Gasert took over ownership. From there she worked at the Buffalo Dry Cleaners, until she retired.

In Marilla’s pastime, she enjoyed fishing in the summer with her husband at Smith Lake, Osakis, MN. She also enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table doing her crosswords and watching her birds. She also enjoyed spending time with all of her family of 56.

She leaves behind to mourn: children, Doug (Janice) Frykholm of Howard Lake, Shelly (Steve) Nelson of Annandale, Steven (Teresa) Frykholm of Buffalo, Treina (Bob) Richards of Buffalo, Tammy (Clay) Prestidge of Waverly and son-in-law Jim Berscheid. Followed by many grandchildren: 10 granddaughters; Tabatha (Brian) Borski, Candi (Erik) Stumme, Angie (Jim) Ottenstroer, Jody (Kory) Schafer, Stephanie (Jesse) Korbel, Rachel Richards, Kayla (Tim) Cox, Cari (Josh) Erickson, Heather Prestidge, Alyssa Prestidge, three grandsons Jonathan Nelson, Devon Prestidge, Lucas Frykholm, and one step grandson Jason (Christina) Nelson. Along with several great grandchildren and great step grandchildren.
Marilla is preceded in death by her husband, Harlen Frykholm; daughter, Diane Berscheid; parents, Lester and Agnes Marquette; step-father Merle Triplett; and her in-laws, Axel and Ruth Frykholm.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 PM with prayer service at 7:30 PM at The Peterson Chapel, 119 Central Ave, Buffalo.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior to service at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 302 NE 2nd St, Buffalo, MN. Pastor Ryan Clark will officiate.

Casket bearers include Jason Nelson, Jonathan Nelson, Lucas Frykholm, James Ottenstroer, James Schafer, and Timothy Cox.

Honorary casket bearer: Devon Prestidge

Interment to follow at Swedesburg Cemetery in Waverly, MN.
