Marie Ann Butler, age 46 of Buffalo, passed peacefully on March 21, 2017 at 12:36 p.m. at Quiet Oaks Hospice, St. Cloud, MN. Her loving husband Jeff was holding her hand, as well as being surrounded by her family, she left her earthly body and her soul was sent into the arms of her mother, Jacqueline.
Marie held a Masters of Physical Therapy from St. Catherine College and used this degree along with her gift to be able to comfort others for years as a physical therapist. She had most recently worked at the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Buffalo where she was respected and adored by her co-workers and patients.
Marie married the love of her life, Jeffrey Lee Butler, on June 10, 1995. The couple have two boys. Noah Christian who is attending Gustavus University in St. Peter and Matthew Philip, a freshman at Buffalo High School. Both boys carry Marie’s amazing smile and deep caring for and willingness to help people that will live on through them.
Marie was extremely competitive and her body may have not won the battle with cancer., that lasted for approximately six years. The way she fought, the awareness she brought and the amazing way people were drawn to her, make her soul the winner of her war.
Marie is a fixture in the Buffalo community as well as a warrior with a smile. She brought so much joy and love to everyone around her at her boys sporting events, Pink Street parties and everywhere she went. Even in her final weeks she would not be controlled by the cancer and travelled to Fairmont with Jeff and Noah to watch Matthew play hockey.
Preceded in death by mother Jacqueline (Kowalcyk) Pilarski, uncle Glenn Pilarski and twin nephews Jack and Robert Pilarski.
Marie is survived by husband Jeff; sons Noah and Matthew; father Philip Pilarski; siblings Marcie (Russ) Noyes of Minneapolis, MN, John (Kim) Pilarski of Minneapolis, MN, Jim (Denise) Pilarski of Port Charlotte, FL, Joe (Sandy) Pilarski of Winona, MN, twin sister Melanie (Nathan) Niehus of Winner, SD and younger sister Mindy (Brent) Loge of Waverly, MN; also 3 nieces, 5 nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Services for Marie will be held Saturday, April 1 at 5:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. all at Buffalo Ev. Covenant Church, 1601 State Hwy 25, Buffalo. Reception to follow at church. Guests are asked to wear pink if it is available, as the family knows that Marie would love seeing it all from above.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Randy Shaver Foundation or Breast Cancer Research Foundation in Marie’s name.

Our love & hugs to your family at this time. I wish I could be there, but I’ll be out-of-country. Marie fought long & hard & inspired many with her courage & smile. Her updates always contained some humor – a testament to her beautiful spirit.
