Marian Rose Zierden, age 79 of Buffalo died peacefully in her home on Thursday, May 22nd, 2014 in Buffalo, Minnesota.

She was born on September 9, 1934 in Cold Spring, Minnesota the daughter of Walter & Martha Kloeppner Conrad.

Marian graduated from St. Boniface High School in Cold Spring in 1952.

On November 24, 1955, Marian Conrad and Cyril Zierden were joined in holy marriage at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. God blessed their marriage with four children.

Marian graduated from The St. Cloud School of Nursing in 1955 as an RN. She worked at The St. Cloud Hospital and at a clinic in Marble Falls, Texas before becoming a lifelong homemaker. When Marian wasn’t working, she spent her time volunteering at the schools, the Red Cross, Park View Care Center, as a troop leader for the Boy Scouts and as a cookie mom for the Girl Scouts.

Marian enjoyed many hobbies including reading, puzzles, gardening, antiquing, cards, Scrabble, crocheting, crossword puzzles and baking to name a few. She looked forward to winters in Arizona with her husband and Tuesday mornings with her friends for coffee. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and more recently her great grandchildren at the cabin in Cold Spring. Her quick wit, one liners and award winning laughter and smile will be missed by all who knew her.

Survived by her loving children: Patrick (Rita) Zierden of Monticello, Pamela (Kevin) Dickson, Peggy (Richard) Fouquette and Penny (Jeff) Reetz all of Buffalo; grandchildren: Sara (Randy) Schwartz, Matthew Zierden, Sara (Patrick) Christenson, Alisa Dickson, Robert Dickson, Christopher (Julie) Fouquette and Ryan Fouquette; great grandchildren: Emma Wolters, Lucas & Liam Christenson, Bailey Shannon and Tavin Snodie; a brother: Joseph Conrad of Portland, Oregon; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband: Cyril Zierden on December 4, 2002, her parents: Walter and Martha Conrad, a grandson: Todd Michael Zierden, siblings: Walter (Irene) Conrad, Donald Conrad, Ramona Lund, Joanne Buermann and Thomas Conrad.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Marian “Mary” Zierden will be held on Tuesday, May 27th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. Father David Hennen will be the Celebrant for the Mass. Entombment at St. Francis Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 26th from 5-8 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Further visitation will be held on Tuesday morning, May 27th from 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. at the church.

Honorary Bearers will be Sara Schwartz, Matthew Zierden, Sara Christenson, Alisa Dickson, Robert Dickson, Christopher Fouquette and Ryan Fouquette.
