Marian Louise Braun, age 84 of St. Michael, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021. She was born August 27, 1937 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Archie and Ida (Daigle) Ditty.
Marian attended a year of high school at Hollywood High in Hollywood, CA. While attending, she learned her dancing skills from the talented instructor, Donald O’Conner, who danced in Marian’s favorite movie, “Singing in the Rain”. She completed high school at West High School in Minneapolis, graduating with the class of 1955.
Marian was a selfless individual, who as all about giving to others and being active with so many events. Some of her activities included being the leader of her son’s baseball fundraising events and concessions stands, being involved for over 20 years with the ABWA, and being a faithful member of Holy Nativity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis (serving on the church council for many years) and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hanover (being involved with bible studies). Because of her giving nature and involvement with the communities, she made so many friends who became like family.
Marian was known to so many as “Marian from the Theater”! She never considered it a ‘job’ to work at the theaters because she enjoyed it so much. She spent time working at the Riverview Theater in Minneapolis, over 20 years with the Terrace Theater in Robbinsdale, and with St. Michael Cinema until her passing. As her friends at the Cinema have stated, Marian was “a joy to everyone around her and a bright light in our community”.
Marian touched so many lives and will truly be missed by everyone. She loved the family she made in the theaters and St. Michael-Albertville Community, but her greatest love was for her son and daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Ida Ditty; brothers, Theodore, Ernest (Marlene), Richard (Patricia), Robert (Louise), Charles (Joyce); and beloved dog that made them the “Dynamic Duo”, Roxy.
Marian is survived by her son, Tim (Suanne) Braun; grandchildren, Jake (Molly) Braun, Kylie (Aaron) Roorda; great grandsons, Mason, Brecken, Aksel; sister-in-law, Arlene Hatch; beloved dog, Buddy; “The Girls” from West High, Norma, Marlys, Sally, Yvonne; special friends, Dan and Judy, Tammy, Cindy, Sheri; her theater community, Shelley, Steve and Loren from the St. Michael Cinema; and many many other friends and family.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 8, 2021 at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hanover. Burial to follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Hanover.
A Celebration of Marian’s Life will be held Friday, October 29, 2021 at 5:30 pm at the St. Michael Cinema. Details will be published on social media and the St. Michael Cinema Facebook page in the coming days.

Marion was the most wonderful friend. I have known her since seventh grade. I live in Texas but always tried to keep in touch and get together whenever I made it to MPLS. The last time I think was two years ago at Marly’s Piazza house, I had brought all four of my daughters back for a Cerise reunion.
Marion was so nice to visit with, always would talk about her dogs she had. And always had a smile on her face with a great attitude.
Will be missed.
What a wonderful lady! Always so positive and kind. She is the type of person that you hope your daughters (and sons!) grow up to be like. We will miss her dearly, but will always remember her love of people and God. What a classy lady.
