Margaret Mary Hanson, age 71, of Montrose, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

She was born on January 17, 1944 in Moline, Illinois to Lyman and Margeurite Weaver. She attended Alleman High School in Rock Island, IL. After graduating high school, Margaret went on to nursing school. Upon completion of nursing school, she worked as an RN for the University of Minnesota Hospital and later becoming a home health care nurse.

On October 17, 1970 Margaret Weaver and Robert Hanson were united in marriage at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline, IL. The two had met at a Catholic singles group in the Dominic Club in Minnesota. They were blessed with three sons.

Margaret was an active member of Holy Name of Jesus in Medina, and presently at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Waverly. She was a Eucharistic Minister and prayed the rosary at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Howard Lake, MN.

Margaret adored her grandchildren greatly and was a big supporter in her sons’ and grandchildren’s’ sports careers. She enjoyed reading and was involved in a book club, spending time at the family cabin, and watching baseball.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher (Hayley) Hanson and Jeffrey Hanson; grandchildren, Christine, Nicholas, Joshua, Natalie; brother, Thomas (Cecele) Weaver; sister, Louise Winkler; and many other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hanson; son, Steven Hanson; and brother-in-law, Thomas Winkler.

Interment at Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery in Medina, MN.
