Margaret Marie Ottenstroer, age 97, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Lakewood Health Care Center, Staples, Minnesota. She was born October 21, 1914 in Marysville Township, Wright County, the daughter of Paul and Annie (Elfmann) Kubalsky.
Margaret was united in marriage to Francis Ottenstroer on October 27, 1935. They were blessed with 13 children and she was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She had a career as a homemaker her entire life raising her children plus planting a huge garden; canning her fruit and vegetables; raising ducks and chickens. She resided most of her life in Chatham Township, Wright County, but also resided in the cities of Maple Lake, Buffalo, Cokato, Staples, and Motley.
She is survived by her children: Russell (Sharon) Ottenstroer of Annandale; Rita Fischer of Alexandria, VA; Janet Tesch of Staples; Don (Barb) Ottenstroer of Motley; Eugene (Jeanie) Ottenstroer of Delta Junction, AK; Colleen (Gene) Fischer of Colorado Springs, CO; Susan (Ervin) Birkholtz of Motley; Marie (Dale) Penaz of Cokato; Ann (Steve) Mann of Alma, WI; Elaine (Jon) Wiegand of Motley; Debra (Lowell) Linkert of Browerville; Linda (Kevin) McKowan of Anoka; Michael (Lori) Ottenstroer of Buffalo. She is further survived by sister-in-laws, Lucille and Vera Ottenstroer and by 32 grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and their spouses: Bertha (Adolph) Sieg, Clara (Harry) Dahlin, Elsie (George) Krause and Agnes Lueck. She’s also preceded in death by her grandson, Chad Ottenstroer, daughter-in-law, Marge Ottenstroer, son –in-laws Bob Risser and Bill Tesch; brother-in-laws, George and Melvin Ottenstroer.
Funeral services for Margaret Ottenstroer will be held Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Visitation will be on Saturday December 17, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Kreidler Cemetery in Montrose.
