Meg was born on June 5, 1922 in Loretto, the daughter of Philip and Myrtle (Welker) Schmitz.
On June 7, 1947, Magdalen Schmitz was united in marriage to Donald “Dandy Don” Klaers and God blessed them with 63 years of marriage.

Meg was also very civic minded and was a Boy Scout Leader, 4H leader, and also a member of the St. Michael Legion Auxiliary.
She spent many hours watching her kids and grandkids sports and was always the most encouraging and loudest member of the crowd. Her love for sports and the MN Twins was also shown in the fact that her favorite song was “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”, this was always sung with great enthusiasm.
For enjoyment Meg loved to bowl with her team the Alley Cats, plant her gardens and was known to be a good “cooker” by her family.
Meg will especially be remembered for the hospitality and warmth that was shown to anyone she met. Her friends and family were always greeted with a smile and were welcome whenever they came to her home.

    Dear Klaers Family,
We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Meg was such a warm and wonderful lady. As a child I remember coming to your house and she was always so welcoming. She always made me feel special. Meg had a sweet smile and a genuinely caring spirit. I have good memories of her that make me smile. May God bless all of you! Karen and Jerry Polaschek
