Lorraine Marie Otten, age 82 of Buffalo, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 at Park View Care Center. She was born on June 5, 1925, at the Catlin Hospital located above what is now J™s Restaurant in downtown Buffalo. Lorraine was the only child of Walter and Sarah (nee Lischke) Westphal. She was baptized at her parents™ home on June 28, 1925, by Pastor Wm. Pankow, and was confirmed July 10, 1938, at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford, by Pastor Samuel Baer. Her confirmation verse was 1 John, 1:7 KJV The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. She graduated from Buffalo High School “ Class of ™43.
Lorraine married Egidius Otten on July 5, 1943, and continued to live and work on the family farm where she grew up. Except for nine months at Park View Care Center, she lived her entire life there.
Their marriage was blessed with two daughters: Joan Witte and Ruth (James) Bonk; and later with two grandsons, Jarrod and Ryan Bonk. She was a loving and generous mother and grandmother. Her family was the joy of her life. She is also survived by sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Harriet, Pearl, and Mabel Otten, Bernice and Robert Robasse; and many other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Egidius, in 1996; parents, Walter in 1980 and Sarah in 1977. She was also preceded by sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Howard Arquette, Canute, Cuthbert, and Adrian Otten and Gerald Holmberg.
Lorraine™s visitation was held on Monday, April 7, 2008 from 4-8:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Buffalo, with a Prayer service 7:30 P.M. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the church with visitation one hour before the service. Pastor James Disney officiated at the service. Sandi (Dixon) Baert was the organist. Casket bearers were Steve and Nathan Dixon, Dale Engebretson, Brian Ralph, Lee Charlson, and Randy Strenge.
