Lisa Ann Van Engen, 31, died at Abbott Northwestern Hospital surrounded by family on Monday, June 12, 2017 after a long and complicated battle with ARDS. Visitation will be Friday, June 16, 2017 from 4-7:00 p.m. at NorthRidge Fellowship 12522 Main Street, Rogers, MN. Her Celebration of Life Service will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, also at NorthRidge Fellowship. A private family burial will be held prior to Lisa’s Celebration of Life.
Lisa was born in Winsted, MN on July 13, 1985, the daughter of Daniel and Virginia (Clausen) Johnson. She grew up on a dairy farm in Cokato with her four doting older siblings. She graduated from Dassel-Cokato High School in 2004 and furthered her education at Bethel University, graduating in 2008 with a B.S. in Nursing. Lisa’s entire career was at Hennepin County Medical Center, compassionately touching many lives in several different units.
On November 9, 2012, Lisa was united in marriage to Tyler Van Engen, the love of her life. The couple settled in St. Michael where they started a family and began worshiping at NorthRidge Fellowship.
Lisa was a fiercely devoted mother and wife; her life revolved around her family and faith. Lisa’s love for life radiated through her sweet, gentle spirit, and she approached every day with optimism and enthusiasm. She was always smiling, always laughing, always loving. Lisa bravely endured a victorious battle against Hodgkins Lymphoma, arming herself daily with the promises found in God’s Word. Her life was a true testimony of God’s goodness, faithfulness and love.
Lisa will be dearly missed by all who loved her, including her devoted husband, Tyler Van Engen; her two sons, Henry Brian (2.5 years) and Wesley Daniel (9 months); parents, Daniel and Virginia Johnson; siblings, Bruce (Kim) Johnson, David (Gretchen) Johnson, Darren Johnson, Laura (Tim) Overmoen; mother-in-law, Jan Van Engen; sister-in-law, Jaci (Aaron) Feltman; nieces and nephews, Dana, Beau and Olivia Johnson, Braden, Seth, Hallie and Sawyer Johnson, Jens and baby-on-the-way Overmoen, Lauren, Anna, Hudson and Jackson Feltman; and many other loving family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lester and Adeline Clausen, paternal grandparents, Manfred and Gladys Johnson, and father-in-law, Brian Van Engen.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift toward Henry and Wesley’s college funds.

I have no words, just tears and thoughts to all of you.
This is so sad. No words just hugs to everyone. God has you in the palm of His hand. We don’t know why but God has plans. We just have to be patient and trust Him. That is very hard when you and family hurt so much. Lisa isn’t suffering anymore. That is one consolation! We won’t be able to be there to give you hugs (have a wedding in Bemidji) but know that our thoughts and prayers will be with you.
I am so sorry for your family’s great loss. Lisa was an amazing,kind and gentle soul and will be so missed. Peace be with you.
