Lester H. Lefty Uecker, age 82, of Maple Lake died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.

He was born on September 16, 1925 in Albion Township, Wright County the son of Louis & Amelia Linkert Uecker.

Lester was baptized on October 11, 1925 by Reverend Alfred Streufert at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township.

He was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on April 2, 1939 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by Reverend William D. Kanning. His confirmation memory verse was 2 Corrinthians 5 verse 1 For we know that, if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

On April 30, 1949, Lester H. Uecker and Leona A. Koepke were joined in holy marriage at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township by Reverend Herman Bentrup. God blessed their marriage with four children.

Lester engaged in dairy farming for many years and was also employed for twenty two years at Minnesota Rubber.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his grandchildren, was a sports enthusiast especially fond of baseball and softball.

He was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale. Lester also belonged to The Maple Lake American Legion Post.

Survived by children: Sharon (John) Schmitz of Annandale, Gail (Dave) Schwartz & Sandy (Joe) Couette all of Maple Lake and Darrell (Margie) Uecker of New Hope; grandchildren: Tony Schmitz, Tammy (Tim) Hinz and Todd Schmitz, Troy (Stacy) Schwartz, Tana (Bobby) Fobbe, Matt & Kim Schwartz, Aaron, Nate & Heather Couette, Natalie, Emma & Jack Uecker; great grandchildren: A.J. & Colby Hinz, Sydney, Madison & Carson Schwartz and Brayden Fobbe; a brother: Ron (Joyce) Uecker; sisters: Helen Gruenhagen, Loretta Lundy and Ruth Uecker; sisters-in-law: Lorraine Uecker, Ann Uecker and Erna Steenerson; many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his beloved wife: Leona A. Uecker, his parents: Louis & Amelia Uecker, brothers and a sister: Herb, Arnold, Alvin, Leona and Donald Uecker.

Funeral services for Lester Lefty Uecker were held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 12th

at Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale. Pastor Thomas Queck officiated. Interment followed at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Middleville Township

Kathy Queck was the organist for the funeral service. Congregational hymns were Amazing Grace, For All the Saints Who from Their Labors Rest and Nearer, My God, to Thee.

A visitation was held from 4-8 P.M. Friday, April 11th at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.. A Prayer service was held at7:00 P.M. Friday evening.

Casket Bearers were Tony Schmitz, Todd Schmitz, Troy Schwartz, Matt Schwartz, Aaron Couette, Nate Couette and Jack Uecker.
