LeRoy James Welch, age 77, of Buffalo passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Fairview-Southdale Hospital in Edina.
He was born November 19, 1943 in Star Lake Township, Minnesota the son of George Joseph and Margaret (Mann) Welch.
He honorably served his country in the United States Army.
On July 23, 1966 LeRoy Welch was joined in holy marriage to Penny L. Bergstrom in Richfield. God blessed their marriage with two children.
He was a former vice president of Continental Data. LeRoy was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo. He enjoyed classic cars- “Chevy Best.”
Survived by his loving wife, Penny L. Welch; children: Bradley (Connie) Welch of Rushford, Minnesota and Brenda (Jeffrey) Mader of Buffalo; four grandchildren: Gary (Sarah) and Cody (Tracy); Lacey and Braxten; siblings: Darlene Carlson, Alvin (Collette) Welch and Janice (John) Ludwig; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents: George Joseph and Margaret Welch; an infant sister Doris and a nephew Anthony “Tony” Welch.
A Memorial service for LeRoy Welch will be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 11 A.M. Pastor Ryan Clark will officiate. Inurnment with military rites at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
I grew up next to Lee and his family in Maple Plain. He was a great neighbor, fun to be around and always joked with us neighborhood kids. For HS graduation, he gave me a bottle of Tequila with a worm in it and a bucket! 😉 Love and hugs to his family.
When I was Loretto Postmaster from 1986 to 2006 I had the pleasure of working with Lee and his family members at CDI a bulk mailing company. Lee was always a great guy to work with and I’d like to extend my sympathy to the family .
