Visitation Information

Leona Elizabeth Haus 92 of St. Michael, Minnesota passed away Friday, January 7, 2011, at her home in St. Michael, in the same room in which she was born.

Leona Elizabeth Haus was born August 18, 1918 in St. Michael, Minnesota to Ignatious and Elizabeth (Lehn) Hartmann. Leona was baptized, received her first communion and confirmed; all at St. Michael Catholic Church. She attended St. Michael Parochial School. She was united in marriage to Francis Raymond Haus on January 17, 1946. To this union nine children were born. The family settled on the Hartmann homestead in St. Michael where Leona lived her entire life. She loved music, playing the harmonica and guitar in her family band which played at barn dances and home parties. She also sang in the church choir. Leona was a master gardener and was a lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.

Leona is survived by her children; Elizabeth (Arvid) Wendt of Lake Norden, South Dakota, Eileen (Dale) Kuchenmeister of St. Michael, Minnesota, Rosemary (Maurice) Carlin of Silver Creek, Minnesota, Susan (Richard) White of Zimmerman, Minnesota, Darlene Haus of St. Michael, Minnesota, Robert (Diane) Haus of Columbia Heights, Minnesota, Linda Haus of St. Michael, Minnesota, and Thomas (Karen) Haus of Glenwood, Minnesota. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ignatious and Elizabeth Hartmann, husband Francis, son James, and siblings Walter, Rudolph, Robert, Martin, Mary, and Frank.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael “Historic” Catholic Church in St. Michael with Fr. Nathaniel Meyers celebrant. Visitation will be Sunday from 4pm until 8pm with a prayer service at 7pm all held at St. Michael “Historic” Catholic Church. Interment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery.

Casket Bearers are her grandchildren; Bruce Kuchenmeister, Sonny Thompson, Eric White, Travis White, Kelly Bequeath, Ryan Haus, Jesse Haus, Maryrose White, Shannon Carlin, Katie Haus, Emily Haus, Anna Haus, and Jarrod Haus.

The Peterson Chapel of St. Michael – Albertville assisted the family with arrangements.
