LaVonne Bonnie (Gaffney) Hanson, age 76 of Buffalo, MN, passed away on July 25, 2019.

She was born on December 18, 1942 in Bird Island, MN to Rolland and Adeline (Beckler) Gaffney.

LaVonne graduated from Bird Island High School in 1960, and it was there that she met her future husband, Lanny Hanson. The high school sweethearts were joined in marriage on December 1, 1962 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Bird Island. Together they raised two sons, Todd and Troy.

They first resided in St. Louis Park where she worked for Target Corporation. She and Lanny then settled on Lake Charlotte in Buffalo, MN in 1964. Lanny was then drafted into the Army to serve his country in 1966. Upon returning home, together over the next 30 years they owned and operated Hanson Auto Service in Rockford, MN.

LaVonne loved spending time on the lake on the pontoon and watching the sunsets. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed taking care of all her plants and flowers. She was skilled at sewing clothes for her family and would bake delicious treats for her grandchildren. LaVonne and Lanny liked to take road trips to see friends and family in Maryland, and would try to travel when they could find some free time from their business. She was a lover of musicals and theater; some of her favorites included The Sound of Music and Fiddler on the Roof.

She was most proud of being a wife, mother, and grandma; creating special memories with each of them and spending as much time with them was something she cherished the most in life.

LaVonne will be greatly missed by those who survive her: husband, Lanny; sons, Todd (Connie) and Troy (Kate); grandchildren, Isaac, Ben, Lily, and Sarah; brother, Charles (Sharon) Gaffney; sister-in-law, Jeanne Gaffney; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rolland and Adeline Gaffney; and brother, LuVern Gaffney.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 12 PM with visitation one hour prior at The Peterson Chapel of St. Michael-Albertville.
