Larry C. Oftelie, of Maple Lake, MN, age 65 passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on May 4, 2013 at Lake Ridge Care Center, Buffalo. Funeral service on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Maple Lake, MN at 6:00 PM. Visitation from 4-6 PM at the church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Fort Snelling, MN on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM.
Larry was born in Crookston, MN on February 17, 1948 to Knute & Helen Oftelie. He was baptized on April 26, 1948 & confirmed on October 6, 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston, MN. He graduated from Crookston High School on June 1, 1966. Larry served his country in the US Army from March, 1968 to March, 1970 serving one year in Vietnam. He served in the US Army Reserves until May, 1972. He married Judy Tufte on November 26, 1971. Larry served with the Happy Hooligans of the US Air National Guard of North Dakota from 1972 until his retirement in 1991. Larry also worked as a network technician for Qwest Communications, retiring in 2003.
He loved to travel, fish & read. He enjoyed riding motorcycles & gardening vegetables. He
enjoyed the outdoors & had an adventurous spirit.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Knute & Helen Oftelie; brothers, Burton, Jimmy & Jerry.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Judy of Maple Lake, MN; daughters, Jennifer (Spencer) Erdahl of Buffalo, MN, Jill (fiancée, Andrew Peterson) Oftelie of Maple Lake, MN; beloved grandson, Cole Erdahl; brother, Clifford (Verleth) Oftelie of Crookston, MN; sister-in-law, Doris Oftelie of Huntington Beach, CA; cousins, Clifford Oftelie Jr. of Detroit Lakes, MN, Carol Christle of Moorhead, MN & Sandi Oftelie of Moorhead, MN.

    I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

    I have such great memories spending some summer days at your house by the lake. Larry was always so fun and kind.
