LaVerna Lena Weege, age 89, formerly of Watertown, Minnesota, passed away on July 18th, 2009 surrounded by her family and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The Alzheimer’s Association, Allina Home Care, Hospice & Palliative Care, and Sunrise Cottages of Buffalo, MN.

She was born on May 1, 1920 in Woodland Township, Wright County, Mn. to Herman & Amelia Lemke Domjahn.

LaVerna was baptized at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany, Minnesota on May of 1920. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Delano on August 6th,1933.

On November 17, 1940, LaVerna Domjahn was married to Harold Weege at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in New Germany. God blessed their marriage with five children. Together they engaged in dairy farming near Buffalo, Minnesota until 1951. LaVerna & Harold later moved to a farm in Hollywood Township, Carver County. They farmed there until 1967, when they purchased a home in Watertown, Minnesota.

She was a former member of Hollywood School Board District # 24. LaVerna also formerly was employed at Umco in Watertown. She faithfully belonged to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. LaVerna enjoyed quilting, embroidering and gardening.

LaVerna was preceded in death by her parents: Herman & Amelia Domjahn, her husband: Harold G. Weege on October 5, 1981, a granddaughter: Amanda Weege, brothers: Arthur, Alvin and Alfred Domjahn and by a sister-in-law: Evelyn Domjahn.

LaVerna is survived by five loving children: Harlan (Barbara) Weege of Dassel, Minnesota, Myron (Sally) Weege of Winona, Minnesota, LaDonna ( Duck) Hultgren of Huntley, Montana, Marlys (Bill) Justice of Milbank, South Dakota and Alan (Lucy) Weege of Buffalo, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren; a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Orion & Faith Weege of Buffalo, Leona Mielke of Howard Lake and Dolores Domjahn of Montrose; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for LaVerna Weege will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24th, 2009 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, Minnesota. Pastor Donald L. Taylor will officiate. Interment will follow at The Watertown Public Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 from 5-8 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Prayer service to be at 7:30pm

Honorary Casket Bearers will be granddaughters: Karen Solberg, Christina Geck, Debbie Lynch and Kelly Richard.

Casket Bearers will be grandsons: Michael Weege, Troy Hultgren, Brian Weege, Myron Weege Jr., Todd Weege, Chris Weege and Dustin Weege.
