Kenneth Gerald Erickson, age 77, of Buffalo, MN, passed away September 16, 2010, at the Buffalo Hospital.
Kenneth Gerald Erickson was born February 7, 1933, in Marysville Township, Wright County, Buffalo, MN, to Walfred and Mildred (Mattson) Erickson. He grew up in Marysville Township and attended country school. After school he worked on the family farm, and later for the railroad for a few years.
Kenneth was united in marriage to Mary Ann Decker on June 2, 1956, in Monticello, MN. The family lived in several places throughout Minnesota. Kenneth drove ready mix truck for fifteen years, and was a brick layer and cement mason for twenty years. His hobbies included listening to country and western music, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, traveling, camping and playing cards. Kenneth loved to dance, especially the polka. Kenneth enjoyed his trips to Breezy Point Resort and his puppies. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, being a prankster, and his love of lutefisk. Kenneth was a member of the Hanover Lions Club, the Brick Layers Union, and St. Francis Catholic Church.
Kenneth is survived by his wife: Mary Ann Erickson of Buffalo; children: Kathleen (Jim) Krotzer of Akeley, MN, Deborah (Dan) Noling of Annandale, MN, Julie (Gary) Skjod of Hanover, MN, Laurie (Jon) Olson of Maple Lake, and Kenneth Gerald Erickson Jr. of Buffalo; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Eileen (Lewis) Swanson of Tower, MN, Floyd “Buck” (Marlene) Erickson of Buffalo, Harlan (Arlene) Erickson of Buffalo, Theodore (Judy) Erickson of Montrose, MN, and Sharon (Don) Chamley of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walfred and Mildred Erickson; his siblings: Vernon, Don Bernice, Lois, Eleanor, and Muriel; and an infant grandson Richard Noling.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, September 20, 2010, at 11:00 am at St. Francis Catholic Church in Buffalo, with Fr. David Hennen as the celebrant. Visitation was Sunday 5 pm to 8 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:30 pm at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Further visitation was held on Monday at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment was in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Buffalo, MN.
Casket bearers were Joseph Skjod, Andrew Skjod, Tim Kopp, Garret Noling, Clinton Noling and Joe Engval.
