Kenneth Dean Westerdahl, age 81, of Buffalo, MN
passed away Friday ,February 12th, 2016 at North
Memorial Medical Center Robbinsdale ,MN.
He was born December 7th, 1934 in Chicago, IL, the son of Hedwig and Herman Westerdahl.
After graduating high school in 1953, he enlisted in the Army in 1954. While serving, he sang with the military choir at Fort Sill ,OK. Upon discharge, he married Dolores Mertic on January 21,1956.
They continued to live and raise a family on the the South Side of Chicago. Having grown up in a very musical family, Ken participated in church choirs, solo work, and as a member of the Chicago
Symphony Chorus.
He worked at Interlake/Acme Steel as a lab chemist for 30 years.
At retirement in 1997, he and Dolores moved to Buffalo MN where he enjoyed singing in the choir at The Evangelical Covenant Church, wood carving in the community, having coffee with friends, and attending his granddaughters’ concerts, and sporting events.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years,
Dolores Westerdahl (nee Mertic); children: Joy
Westerdahl (Brett Oden) of Buffalo, Julie (Ted)
Anton of Chicago; grandchildren: Britta Joy Oden ,
Katie Joy Oden of Buffalo.
