Kathleen Ann Smith, age 69 of St. Michael, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019. She was born August 21, 1950 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Joseph and Shirley (Freeman) Herzog.
Kathy graduated from Lincoln High School in Bloomington, MN in 1968 and furthered her education, graduating from St. Cloud State University. Kathy enjoyed her career at Cedar Mountain Elementary teaching preschool and in the classroom.
Kathy was active with many church activities, including teaching Sunday school. She enjoyed sewing, reading, quilting, traveling, wintering in Arizona, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
On June 22, 1974, Kathleen Herzog and Gene Smith were united in marriage at Morgan United Methodist Church in Morgan, MN. The two were blessed with three children: Brian, Joelle and Keven.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Shirley Herzog; parents-in-law, Lloyd Smith and Gladys (Walter) Eberhardt; and siblings-in-law, Wava Smith and Gary Smith.
Kathy will be dearly missed by her husband, Gene Smith; children, Brian Smith, Joelle (Jeremy) Jung, Keven (Karen) Smith; grandchildren, Collin and Lauren Smith, Savanna, Alayna and Gracyn Jung, Deklen and Macie Smith; Sister, Karol (Charlie) Rockler; brother-in-law, Bob (Marti) Ritter; nieces and nephews, Aaron, Samira, Shannon, Todd, Kristen; daughter-in-law, Susanne Smith; and many other family and friends.
Funeral service Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior, at Buffalo United Methodist Church, 609 8th St NW, Buffalo, MN. Burial at Dawn Valley Memorial Park, Bloomington, MN.

Please tell Gene how sorry I am. I sold them my park model when I moved out of Sunflower. I am still involved there as I work in the mailroom. They always made sure to stop and see me when they arrived.
