Katherine “Kathy” Louise Trapp, peacefully departed this world on December 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Hanover, MN. She was born on June 25, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to parents Wilbert and Louise (Forde) Lock.

Kathy’s early years were marked by her education at Wayzata High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1967 and then briefly attended St. Cloud State.

On June 13, 1987, Kathy exchanged vows with the love of her life, Jerry Trapp, at the Wayzata Community Church. Together they created a life full of shared joys and accomplishments.

In the years following the birth of her children, Kathy devoted herself to the role of a homemaker, infusing her household with love, warmth, and boundless care. An avid supporter of her children’s pursuits, Kathy was dedicated to nurturing their interests. Whether cheering for Chad at his hockey games or supporting Heather in her soccer endeavors, her love and encouragement knew no bounds. Kathy’s commitment to service extended to being a den leader for Heather’s Girl Scout troop, where she left a lasting impact on young lives.

Later, she entered the workforce and contributed her talents to Gamble, Incorporated, ITT Financial, and eventually retired from Solutran as an adjustment clerk.

Kathy was an active member of her community and found joy in various hobbies and activities. She was an avid bowler, participating in a local league in Wayzata. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she generously volunteered her time with Sunday school and confirmation classes at her church.

She loved to bake cookies and pies, creating sweet memories for those she loved. An avid reader, she was always finding new and old books to read. Gardening brought her joy, though she admitted a reluctance to pulling weeds! Kathy enjoyed spending time at the Hansen cabin in Brainard and spending vacations with family and friends on the North Shore of Minnesota. Above all, Kathy cherished the time spent with her family, creating many special memories. She was a woman of remarkable patience, quiet strength, boundless love, and genuine care.

Kathy is preceded in death by her infant son, Adam; parents, Wilbert and Louise Lock; father-in-law, Jerome Trapp; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Chad and Heather; granddaughter, Rose and another grandchild on the way; brother, David (Betty) Lock; nephews, Steve (Colin, Caden and Cooper), Jon (Leslie) (Gina and Michael); and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Westbridge Church (11600 Frankfort Pkwy NE, St. Michael, MN) at 3:00 pm CST with visitation one hour prior.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Peterson Chapel of St. Michael-Albertville. Online condolences for the family may be directed to www.thepetersonchapel.com

Kathy meant a lot to me. She was like a sister, we did everything together growing up. Our families went everywhere together, I thought they were just a part of our family. Even after growing up we went on vacations together. We were in Florida when Kathy passed and I had so many great memories of the time we spent there together I felt like she was there with me. She was a wonderful; person!!! She will be missed by all who knew her. I am so sorry for your loss. These last few years were so hard on all of you, I’m sorry you had to go through such a terrible disease. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you for healing and great memories of the time you all had together.
Thinking of you, Love Ed & Judy
