Joyce Steffens, age 80 of St. Michael, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the North Memorial Residence in Brooklyn Center.

On March 5, 1928, Joyce Myrtle Weber was born to Robert A. and Laura L. (Bursch) Weber in Minneapolis. On January 20, 1947 she married William M. Steffens at the St. Michael Catholic Church Parish House in St. Michael. Joyce was a very active member of her church (New Joy Church) and served as a deaconess. She enjoyed music and dancing. She was a member of The Golden Airs and frequented Medina’s Ballroom. She enjoyed baking and was known for her delicious breads. She also enjoyed crocheting, especially afghans.

Joyce is survived by her daughters: Bonita Steffens, of St. Michael, Shelly (Greg) Theis, of Crystal; siblings: Kenneth (Marion) Weber, Rogers, Bernice Aydt and June Weber, both of Monticello; granddaughter, Sarah Theis, of the home; nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; husband William; sisters: Betty Weber, Jean Kottke, and Hattie Hawkins; special friends: Don Peterson and Keith Mc Ferran.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday June 23, 2008 at New Joy Church, 12825 Tucker Rd., Rogers. Pastor Bill Johnson will officiate. Special Music will be provided by: Gary and Sandy Johnson, pianist, Lois Erickson and soloist, Sharee Kampe. The casket bearers will be: Dennis Erickson, David Steffens, Joel Hawkins, Mike Eichler, Dale Kottke and Tim Aydt. The Golden Airs will be honorary bearers and serve as an honor guard.

Burial is in the church cemetery. The visitation will be Sunday 4-8 at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home in St. Michael and resumes at the church one hour before the funeral.

    Our sincerest sympathy to all of Joyce’s family members. We met Joyce at the Community Center in Buffalo a few years ago. She was a delightful lovely lady. She will be missed.
