Joy Waterman Delaney, age 63 of Maple Grove, passed away October 23, 2015.
On May 21, 1952 Russ and Marce Waterman named the first of their five children Joy, because they said “That’s what she was to us.”
Raised in North Minneapolis, Joy learned to play the piano at St. Anne’s, where went to grade school. She was gently forced to play the piano at family Christmas gatherings from then on!
After graduating high school from Totino Grace, Joy married Al in 1973 and their daughter Jill was born in 1976.
Joy attended North Hennepin and Augsburg College. She obtained a degree in nursing and quickly found her niche in obstetrics.
Joy married the love of her life, Michael Delaney, on August 18, 1984. They recently celebrated 31 years together.
A 25 year employee of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Infertility, she continued to love her work and co-workers.
She was an avid reader, a lover of fast, pretty cars and any show that was on the HGTV channel. Her favorite pastime was hanging out with her family at the cabin – looking at the sparkles on the lake!
Joy was preceded in death by her brother Mark.
She is survived by husband Michael; daughter Jill (Jason) McCrary; parents Marce & Russ Waterman; sisters Claudia (Nick) & Gale (Phil); brother Brian (Leeann).
Memorials preferred to the Avon Area Lake Assoc., Joy Delaney’s Memory, P.O. Box 381, Avon, MN 56310
