Joseph Matthew LaFromboise “Gus”, age 84, of Monticello, MN passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at New River Medical Center in Monticello.
He was born on October 3, 1928 in Willow City, ND the son of John and Sadie (Helland) LaFromboise.
Joseph met Mamie Cutschall and they married in 1955. God blessed their family with three children.
He was a hardworking man who enjoyed golf, traveling, horseback riding, hunting and fishing. He grew up on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation and loved nature. He enjoyed sharing his wisdom with others and was a mentor to many.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mamie, children: Gary (Laura) LaFromboise of Ramsey, MN, Catherine (Robert) Wright of Naples, FL and Renee (Robert) Freund of Hanover, MN, grandchildren: Jessica Helland, Vanessa Freund, Antoine LaFromboise, Paige Freund and Danielle Freund, brothers: Clifford LaFromboise and Sylvester LaFromboise, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Elizabeth and Marie and brothers Clarence, Father Benedict and John.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church. Father Peter Richards will be the celebrant.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at The Peterson Chapel, St. Michael/Albertville from 4-8 PM. Further visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment at St. Henry’s Catholic Cemetery, Monticello, MN.
Pallbearers will be Rob Freund, Tim Cutschall, Corey Helland, Erik Baden, Antoine LaFromboise, Robbie Dapeaux and David Dapeaux.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Red Cloud Indian School, 100 Mission Drive, Pine Ridge, SD.
The Peterson Chapel, St. Michael/Albertville assisted the family with arrangements.
We want to extend our family’s sincere condolences at the passing of Mr. LaFromboise.
Mamie and family: I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I will always have fond memories of Gus and Whitey coming to visit, they were always pleasant and caring and our family loved them! My Grandpa Jim, Mama (Happy) and Daddy (Grizz)enjoyed their company. I will keep him in my prayers.
