John Boyd, age 90 of Buffalo, died Friday, June 13, 2008 at the Monticello-Big Lake Nursing Home.
John Sherman Boyd was born on May 16, 1918 in Williamstown, Massachusetts to William and Harriet (nee Sherman) Boyd. He graduated from Devilbiss High School (in MA) then attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI before entering the US Army. John completed his bachelor degree through the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. In 1967, John married Florence Glutter, whom he had met in Minnesota. He worked as an engineer for International Harvester his entire career, relocating to many different states, as needed by the company. John retired to Altamonte Springs, Florida. After Florence died, he moved to be near family in Buffalo. John enjoyed painting and doing crafts.
John Boyd is survived by son John, Jack (Patty) Boyd of Seneca, South Carolina; daughter, Suzanne (James) Luppens of Leesburg, Virginia; step-son, George (Suzie) Anderson of Buffalo; brother, Robert Boyd of York, Maine; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; brother, William Boyd, and sister, Margaret Smead.
The funeral service was private.
