John M. Rood, age 74, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away on October 24, 2010 at his home in Buffalo, MN ending a 7 year battle with numerous types of cancer. John never complained and faced his challenges with tremendous courage.
John was born January 23, 1936 in Minneapolis to Osborn and Lillian (Flora) Rood. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he was an Air Traffic Controller from 1956-1960. John worked for General Motors and was an active member of the UAW Local #722 and loved to play golf.
He is survived by: wife Jeanette (Asp) Rood; Sons: Rick (Debbie) Berthiaume, Robert Berthiaume and Mark Rood; Brothers: Richard (Alice) Rood and Phillip (Dorothy) Rood; Grandchildren: Ricky Berthiaume and Brad (Rose) Berthiaume; Great-Grandson: Trent Berthiaume; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Our Father’s Lutheran Church ELCA, 3903 Gilbert Ave. SE, Rockford, MN. A time of gathering will be held at the church from 10am until the time of service. A luncheon will be held at the church hall following the service.
