John ˜Jack™ E. O™Flanagan, 68, died Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Parkview Care Center in Buffalo with his family by his side.
On September 21, 1938 Clason and Helen (Stokes) O™Flanagan welcomed John Edward O™Flanagan into the world. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the first of three children.
Jack graduated from Monticello High School in 1957. He could not read music, but he played an Eb Tuba and lettered in Band. As a young man, Jack worked for Bud & Annette Pribyl on their farm west of Buffalo.
On June 18, 1960 he married Delores Mary Robasse. They had four children “ Clason, Joseph, Lawrence and Anthony. He enjoyed playing softball, going on long bike rides and camping with his family. His boys have many stories of the numerous times they went fishing or hunting with their dad. He also enjoyed reading, putting together models, watching old Westerns and the History Channel on t.v. and always giving a hand to help out anyone when it was needed.
Jack managed the Midland Station in Buffalo (where the McDonalds is now located) for many years. After the station closed, he worked as a punch press operator at Wrico Stamping until he retired.
Jack and Delores celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in June 1995. Delores died that same year in October. On June 3, 2001, Jack married LaDonna Marquette. For five years they enjoyed fishing, camping and dancing together. On June 21, 2006, Jack moved into Parkview Care Center where he lived until his death on July 19, 2007.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clason O™Flanagan and Helen Bolstad, wife: Delores, son: Joseph, sister: Bernice ˜Toots™ Tennison, half-brother Allan O™Flanagan and half-sister Vickie Borgan.
Jack is survived by his wife: LaDonna (Marquette); sons: Clason (Deb) O™Flanagan of Buffalo, Lawrence (Darla) O™Flanagan of Montrose, and Anthony O™Flanagan (special friend Tracy Farniak) of Buffalo; brother: Herb (Carole) O™Flanigan of Buffalo; half-brother: Laverne O™Flanagan of Kentucky, seven grandchildren: Jamie (David) Parks of Hopkins, Ashley (Brian) Derby of Buffalo, Sara O™Flanagan of Fargo, ND, Amber O™Flanagan, Nicole O™Flanagan, Jenna O™Flanagan and Joseph O™Flanagan all of Montrose; one great grandchild: Jade of Buffalo; nephews, nieces and many good friends.
Visitation was Sunday, July 22nd from 4 to 8 pm at The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo with a remembrance service at 7:30 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, July 23rd, 2007 at 11 am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Buffalo with a 1 hour visitation at the church prior to the start of mass.
Interment was at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.
