John F. Scholl, age 94 of Buffalo and also Seminole, FL, passed away on May 2, 2018.
John was born the son of J. Frederick and Ida (Brown) on January 4, 1924 in White, SD.
He was united in marriage to Beverly Holin on May 25, 1948
John served his country during World War II where he was a pilot of the B17 bomber. He also served as a Captain for Northwest Airlines for 34 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly and daughter Susan Banasiuk.
Survived by children John D. (Nancy) Scholl, Sharon (Jeff) Gleason and Jane (Greg) Skinner; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister Lucille Tellett; cousin Jim (Shirley) Charles; also many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
Memorial service for John will be held Thursday, May 31 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service all at The Buffalo American Legion Post #270 in Buffalo.
Officiating will be Pastor Dean Brown.
Luncheon to follow at the Buffalo Legion.
Interment will be held Friday, June 1 at 10:15 a.m. Assembly Area #5 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis

Capt John Scholl – admired, respected, and loved by all who knew him and flew with him. While that may be a brief statement, there are precious few who could embody all of that to the degree that is befitting John Scholl.
I’m going to miss you, John. You were a wonderful friend as well as an outstanding teacher and role model.
So Long John. It was always a pleasure working with a pro and you were a great role model for many of us. Blue skies on your journey.

I was lucky enough to fly with John, when a Flight Attendant at Northwest. My thoughts and prayers go out to family and those who are hurting. RIP Captain 🙏🏼
John was great to fly with and fun to be with. He was a unique individual. Tail winds John!
In 1974 I gave John Scholl and Thomand O’Brien pre-orals for their DC-10 check-out. They were good friends and loved one-upping each other to see who could get the most answers correct. At the end of the day they invited me to join them to wash some of the days dust down. Many of the stories they shared over the next couple of hours of the “Old Days” are still with me. I felt about as safe sitting between those two Giants at the bar as I have ever felt anywhere. They were good guys and good friends, and guys like them made Northwest Airlines a really good place to hang your hat. They are missed.
