John Edward Hayward, age 80 of Clearwater, Minnesota, passed away on September 23, 2021.
He was born on November 1, 1940, in Hibbing, Minnesota to Daniel and Luella (Bigelow) Hayward. John graduated from Hibbing High School with the class of 1958.
Not long after his graduation, he enlisted to serve in the United States Marine Corps.
On March 21, 1973, he was joined in marriage to Patricia Carey in West Virginia. Together they raised four children.
John was known for his strong work ethic. He took pride in working every day and disliked the idea of retiring. He was the third-best salesman in the country for car and RV sales; he had such a natural ability to relate to his customers and give them the highest quality service possible. He worked many years for Iten Chevrolet, and eventually owned his own car and RV lot, where he was known as John the RV man. John was sociable and could make friends with just about anyone. He was good-natured, upbeat, easy-going, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Not only was he a great salesman, but he was also a very skilled handyman and could fix just about anything. He was musically inclined and taught himself to play the guitar and piano. John liked to dance, was a voracious reader, and one of his most favorite hobbies was creating stained glass art pieces.
John is preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Warren; parents, Daniel and Luella Hayward; and brother, David Eastman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; children, Kathy Hayward, Teri (Jason) Archuleta, and Carey Hayward; grandchildren, LeAnn Stafford, Tyler Warren, Sophia Archuleta, and Samuel Archuleta; sister, Betty Mason; niece, Sue; nephews, Patrick and Daniel; and many other relatives and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo. Online condolences for the family may be directed to www.thepetersonchapel.com

Dear Pat, Kathy, Terry, Carey and family,
So many good memories of John. He sold us out first Minnesota car and we did not have to go to far. One thing to add is John and your whole family were great neighbors! We have known you for over 40 years of you can believe that and it seems like yesterday we were outside having coffee as neighbors.
Pat you are in our prayers and thoughts as well as the entire family. May the memories you have keep you lifted up thru the days to come. It’s a blessing to have you in our circle of friends.
Jon was my Favorite Grappa by choice. Been forever since ive seen him but he never failed to make me laugh or give LeAnn and I a hard time. It’s those little things you never realize how much you’ll miss.
I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this time of deepest sorrow
Losing your daddy is one of the worst feelings in the world. John was like an honorary daddy for me especially because when my daddy passed away he was there to help me in a New York second when I needed somebody to help me. John will truly be missed. I send my dearest and deepest condolences to the whole family! Pumpkin I’m so sorry that I can’t be there for you like you were for me during this major time of pain. I am with you in this. I love all you guys, Give each other a hug for me and that will be me hugging you back. RIP John.., say hello to my Daddy
Kathy, so sorry to hear of the passing of your father….may you revel in his memories and be comforted by stories and pictures of you together. Sending big hugs and lots of prayers for peace. My sincere sympathies to you and your entire family.
Kathy,
I pray for the Lord peace and strength for you and your family…to have a strong pillar of a Father, reading his bio, he was a provider and a man who have brought joy to so many ppls that God has brought in his life. I know he will be dearly missed, but he left a great legacy and those who are survived can carry it on “sociable and could make friends with just about anyone. He was good-natured, upbeat, easy-going, and had a wonderful sense of humor.”
God bless you and your family…sending hugs to you
Kathy, Carey, and family,
Thinking of you during this very difficult time. I know your family was close and did many things together. Change is hard, but remembering all those wonderful memories can bring you some joy. Maybe even a great laugh. Lots of hugs and love!
