Visitation Information

John Henry Bruska, age 74, of rural Buffalo died Monday, December 1, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.

He was born on March 10, 1934 in Buffalo the son of Emil & Henrietta Hohl Bruska.

John was baptized on May 6, 1934 by Pastor W.C. Nickels. He was also instructed in The Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on March 21, 1948 by Pastor W.P. Haar.

On May 7, 1955, John H. Bruska and Lila M. Anderson were joined in holy marriage. God blessed their marriage with three children.

Mr. & Mrs. Bruska engaged in dairy farming until 1968. He was later employed in building construction for Harold Schmidt, Spencer Cuff, Gordon Schmidt and Loren Weese.

John enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a faithful member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church-Pelican Lake.

Survived by his loving wife of fifty three years: Lila M. Bruska; children: Douglas Bruska of St. Louis Park, Gayle (Charles) Melin of Cokato and Debra Schmidt of Maple Lake; grandchildren: Nicole and Amy; Jason, Jeremy and Andrea; great grandchildren: Jessinya, Alcia, Carlos, Brooke, Mason, Hailey and Keegan; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents: Emil & Henrietta Bruska and by a brother: Charles Bruska.

Funeral services for John Bruska were held on Saturday, December 6th at 2:00 P.M. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church-Pelican Lake. Pastor Stephen Smith officiated and interment followed at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Amy Smith was the organist for the funeral service and Jeanne Dixon was the soloist.

A visitation was held on Friday, December 5th from 4-8 P.M. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Casket Bearers were Bill Kowalke, Loren Weese, David Dixon, Harlan Marschel, Dean Schmidt and Franklin Hohl.

    I was so gald to be able to spend some time with John and his family during his last few days. The hurt of losing such a great man is a challenge to get through and never to get over. We learn to live with the good memories and heal. May the Lord be close to you at this time and know that John is in a beautiful place.
