Joel Thomas Orne, age 47, passed away Thursday July 13, 2017 at his home in Brooklyn Park. He is the first born of Tom and Wanda (Zanke) Orne. On May 16, 1970, he was born at Eitel Hospital and lived in South Minneapolis with his siblings, Jason, Jodi, and Jennifer until 1977. The family moved to Maple Grove where Joel grew up and graduated in 1988 from Osseo High School.

Joel received his Business Management degree from Saint Cloud State University and began a career in IT, broadening his love of computers. He was a long-term employee of Target Corporation, serving as a Sr. Business Analyst, and most recently began working at Ameriprise Financial. He lived in Brooklyn Park for the past eighteen years.

Over those years, he participated in several marathons, half marathons, 5Ks, as well as family-runs with his son, Noah. Joel enjoyed photography and loved the outdoors, especially time at the lake. He was an avid fisherman, cyclist and talented artist with a love for painting and drawing wildlife. Joel was a gifted cook and was skilled at solving problems large and small. His quiet, patient demeanor was coupled with a great sense of humor and a hearty laugh.

Joel was an incredible father to his son, Noah, and could always be found surrounded by his nieces and nephews at family gatherings. Joel was a solid and reliable friend and devoted son who never missed an opportunity to share a card or flowers on special occasions. He had a quiet and gentle spirit about him that drew others in.

Joel is survived by his son: Noah Bagwell; his mother: Wanda Orne; father: Thomas (Patricia) Orne; siblings: Jason (Colleen) Orne, Jodi Copa, and Jennifer (Joe) Williams; nieces and nephews: Lilith, Emily and John Orne; Jadin Orne, Zachary, Cordelia & Natalia Copa; Kristin, Sean & Tylar Williams; aunts: Charlene (Tom) Salonen, Sharon (Cletus) Kruse & Pamela (Darrell) Moe; other relatives and friends. Proceeded in death by maternal grandparents: Calvin & Margaret Zanke, paternal grandparents: Fredrick and Marian Orne.
